Prepare the Cylinder	Ensure the puttu maker cylinder is clean.
Bottom Disc	Place the perforated disc at the bottom of the cylinder.
First Layer (Coconut)	Add a layer of grated coconut to the bottom of the cylinder, just above the disc.
Second Layer (Puttu Podi)	Gently add the moistened puttu podi (rice flour mix) on top of the coconut layer. Do not pack it tightly.
Alternate Layers	Continue layering with grated coconut and puttu podi until the cylinder is almost full, finishing with a layer of coconut on top.
Attach to Steamer Base	Place the filled cylinder onto the spout of the steamer base, which should already contain boiling water.
Steam	Allow the puttu to steam for approximately 5-8 minutes, or until steam starts to come out from the top holes of the cylinder.
Remove and Serve	Carefully remove the puttu maker from the steamer base. Use the pushing rod (often attached to the lid) to gently push the cooked puttu out onto a plate.
Serve Hot	Enjoy your hot puttu with kadala curry, sugar, or bananas.
